Lore of Warcraft — How The Horde Gets To Nazjatar

Lore of Warcraft — How The Horde Gets To Nazjatar

It’s Battle for Azeroth, Patch 8.2. The Alliance have recently killed King Rastakan in Battle of Dazar’alor, and some weird stuff has happened in the Crucible of Storms.

Nathanos lets you know the Warchief has given him a mission of highest priority, and as is always the case in WoW, he wants your personal help. The Zandalari have provided a ship. You’re to put your affairs in order and then speak to Captain Rez’okun to set sail.

You’re immediately treated to a cinematic, where you see Nathanos happens to be holding everyone’s favourite knaifu. The scene changes to show Azshara taunting what we assume is N’zoth. Despite all your many efforts in Legion to prevent it, she has the Tidestone, which is supposed to be safe in Dalaran. (Seriously, what is Kadgar even doing in BFA?) Azshara sends up a giant beam of light that creates a sinkhole in the middle of the ocean, which pulls all the Alliance and Horde ships into itself, dragging you to the new zone. Greymane looks terrified but Nathanos does not look surprised. Welcome to Nazjatar.

This is the Alliance cinematic, but the only real difference is you see Lor’themar Theron at the end rather than Greymane:

In a scene that reminds me strongly of the introduction to Vashj’ir, you find yourself shipwrecked and being attacked by hostile locals. Nathanos tells you this turn of events changes nothing in the long run, and has you reporting to Chief Telemancer Oculeth.

Oculeth saves you from falling off the edge of a waterfall and promises to lower you down safely to Lor’themar Theron, who’s asked for you specifically.

Lor’themar tells you that the Horde navy… has seen better days. First, the Alliance destroyed most Horde ships during the Battle of Dazar’alor. And now you’ve just lost what you had left. The Naga are taking people captive, and Thalyssra has gone on ahead to help. You’re sent forward, again.

Thalyssra is holding up a barrier, keeping as many Horde safe as possible from the attacking Naga. She asks you to find survivors, destroy the Naga devices that are tapping into Ley Lines, and kill the leader of the Naga in the area — Tidemistress Ethendriss. Once that’s done, you all head to a more defensible position.

On your way, you hear a sound like an army. You investigate, and it is an army. A Naga army, lead by Priscilla Ashvane.

You continue on until you discover an illusion Scepter of Tides. It disappears as you get closer, and you’re attacked by a great big electric eel. Neri Sharpfin, a Gilgoblin and member of The Unshackled, rescues you and tells you to follow her.

On your way, Thalyssra asks why Neri would help you, and she tells you that any enemy of Queen Azshara is a friend of theirs. Thalyssra and Lor’themar realize you’re in Nazjatar, and a vision of Azshara herself appears. She welcomes you and invites you to stay, but, like, threateningly.

You get to Newhome, the safe haven of The Unshackled, and Neri lets you know they may need your help. Oculeth tells you he’ll be able to open a portal to Zuldazar with your, and your Heart of Azeroth‘s, help. You open the portal, and Magni Bronzebeard appears. He has a quest for you.

But that’s for another time. For now, that’s the end of the Horde‘s introdcution questline into Nazjatar. Happy 8.2.
